Aadhaar e-KYC Errors During DSC Issuance: 2026 Fix List
Every common Aadhaar e-KYC error we see at DSC issuance in 2026 — OTP failure, biometric lock, name mismatch, mobile inactive — and how each one is fixed.
Every Class 3 DSC issued in India in 2026 goes through Aadhaar-based e-KYC. When it fails, the failure is almost always on the Aadhaar side, not the DSC side. Here is the working fix list.
OTP not received on mobile
Cause: the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar is inactive or was deactivated. Fix: visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra with your Aadhaar and the current active mobile, update the number; wait 24 hours; retry.
Biometric lock
Cause: you (or someone with your credentials) locked biometrics via the UIDAI portal. Fix: unlock at resident.uidai.gov.in with your OTP; retry within 10 minutes.
Name mismatch — Aadhaar vs PAN
The DSC is issued with the PAN name, but the e-KYC returns the Aadhaar name; a mismatch beyond initials triggers rejection. Fix: reconcile at the source (usually easier via PAN correction, since PAN accepts a wider format).
DOB mismatch
Same source rule — reconcile PAN or Aadhaar before retry. Practical order: fix Aadhaar first if the DOB is wrong there, since PAN is harder to change.
"Aadhaar authentication temporarily unavailable"
UIDAI-side incident, not yours. Wait 30 minutes and retry. If it persists into the next day, the CA can switch to a fallback offline KYC (Aadhaar Paperless offline eKYC XML) — we handle this on your behalf.
