Trademark Registration DSC: Class 3 Setup for IP Filings
How to use a Class 3 DSC on the IP India trademark filing portal — signatory choice, agent DSCs, and the errors that stall trademark applications in Bangalore.
Trademark applications on the IP India portal (TM-A form) can be filed by the applicant directly or by a trademark agent / attorney. Either way, the filing is DSC-signed by whoever submits it.
Applicant-filed vs agent-filed
- Applicant filing — Class 3 Individual DSC of the proprietor / signatory director.
- Agent filing — Class 3 DSC of the registered trademark agent; agent's registration number is captured in the form.
Documents captured under the DSC signature
Trademark specimen, applicant proof, POA (if agent-filed) and user affidavit — all bundled into the TM-A and signed once. Any correction after signing forces a re-sign.
Common issues
- Old browser plugin — IP India portal requires the current emSigner build.
- Wrong DSC class — Class 2 rejected outright since 2021.
- Signatory PAN mismatch — the DSC's PAN must match the applicant PAN on the form.
For Bangalore founders doing their first trademark filing, we run the form-filling + DSC-signing together in one session — see the contact page.
