Foreign Director DSC in India: Documents and Turnaround 2026
Complete 2026 playbook for foreign / NRI directors of Indian companies getting a Class 3 DSC — apostille, notarisation, video verification and Bangalore turnaround.
Foreign nationals and NRIs directing Indian companies still need a Class 3 DSC for every MCA filing — DIR-3 KYC, board resolutions filed as e-forms, and any SPICe+ incorporation where the applicant is non-resident. The verification path is stricter than a domestic DSC; here is the 2026 version.
Documents required
- Passport — colour scan of all filled pages.
- Address proof — utility bill, bank statement or driving licence, not older than 2 months.
- Photograph — recent, plain background.
- PAN — mandatory if you have one; if not, we file the application under the passport-only pathway.
- All documents notarised and apostilled (Hague convention countries) or notarised and attested by the Indian embassy (non-Hague).
Video verification
The Certifying Authority runs the video call in English. You'll be asked to show the passport (physical, not the scan), read a randomly generated code, and confirm the address. The call is scheduled at your local timezone and recorded.
Turnaround
- Documents received and complete: application filed same day.
- Video verification: 1–3 days depending on your timezone and CA schedule.
- Certificate issuance + token dispatch: 1–2 days after verification.
- Realistic total: 4–7 working days end-to-end for a foreign director based abroad.
